The charming town of Llanfyllin nestles deep in the scenic Cain Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and the Berwyn Mountains. An area of outstanding beauty, with considerable architectural variety, it is home to "Y Dolydd", an early 19th Century workhouse, once featured on the BBC Restoration Programme. Enjoy fantastic walking and cycling opportunities around the hills of Llangynog and through the Berwyn Mountains. Spectacular Lake Vyrnwy with its impressive mountainous backdrop of contrasting colours, and fascinating nature reserve, is within easy reach and the bustling market town of Welshpool, with an array of shops, arts and crafts centres and quality pubs and restaurants, is only 14 miles away. Visit magnificent Powys Castle with its celebrated gardens, and explore breathtaking Llanrhaeadr Waterfall, with its 240' drop, surrounded by bewitching woods and sheer cliffs, both within easy reach. A wonderful location for exploring beautiful Mid Wales and the Shropshire Borders.

The Property: The Old Mill

Llanfyllin 2.8 miles. An enchanting, stone built, detached barn conversion, forming part of a superb renovation of an 18th Century mill, idyllically set beside a babbling brook on wooded farmland, 2.8 miles from the tiny town of Llanfyllin. Much care has been taken to retain many of the original features, including a wealth of beams and exposed roof trusses, whilst the property also offers all modern amenities. The property features a large, well-equipped kitchen and a cosy first floor sitting room, boasting delightful views over the pretty garden and brook. There is an abundance of scenic country walks and cycling opportunites from the doorstep, while the whole area is alive with interesting birdlife. Explore nearby Berwyn Mountains, Powys Castle and the enchanting Lake Vyrnwy, all within easy reach. Visit the bustling market town of Welshpool with its host of shops, bars and restaurants, and the spectacular Llanrhaeadr waterfall, both within a 20 minute drive. A truly magnificent holiday base at any time of year.

Over three floors. Two bedrooms: 1 x ground floor double, 1 x ground floor adult bunk beds. Ground floor shower room with shower, basin and WC. First floor fitted kitchen with dining area. Second floor sitting room with double sofa bed.

Full oil central heating. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, colour TV with Freeview, video, DVD, CD player. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot, highchair and stairgate available. Off road parking for 3 cars. Large lawned garden to rear with patio, garden furniture and BBQ. One small dog welcome. Sorry no smoking. Shops and pubs 2.8 miles. Note: There is a fast flowing stream bordering the garden. Young children should be supervised.

The owners thought of everything, like home from home. Breathtaking views of the countryside. Very friendly and helpful owners. Cottage very well maintained. Garden was adored by us all - the children loved it. We will be returning for a longer stay.
